With pocket-hole joinery, construction is simple and fast, joints are strong, and assemblies don't require an elaborate clamping set-up. Traditionally used for joining rails and skirts to tables and chairs, it is now popular for face-frame and panel work as well as with assemblies that would otherwise require extra-long screws or specialized fasteners.

Made largely from glass-reinforced nylon, the Kreg K3 is designed around a drill-guide block with interchangeable bench-top and portable bases. Installed in the bench-top base, it is an effective tool for production work, while the portable base makes it ideal for large work-pieces or job-site use. The guide block has a hardened steel insert and allows you to center two holes 9/16", 7/8" or 1-7/16" apart, accommodating different widths of stock. A series of holes register a locating pin to provide adjustment in 1/8" increments for material from 1/2" to 1-1/2" thick. The bench-top base features a clamp with a convenient front-mounted handle and spring-tensioned mechanism that compensates for small variations in t hickness. Integral depth-collar adjustment guides help set proper drilling depths. A snap-in shroud collects debris, preventing the drill flutes from packing with dust and overheating. The shroud outlet is 1-1/4" in diameter and requires an adapter (available separately) for connection to standard 2-1/2" hose. Also included are a positioning stop (which doubles as a stock support), a 3-1/2" capacity face-frame clamp, a 3/8" step drill bit and depth collar, 3" and 6" #2 square recess drivers, an assortment of screws, and instructions.
